Clumped Isotopes Application Note Releasedadded on 16/11/09
IsoPrime Ltd has released a new application note detailing the use of the IsoPrime IRMS for the exciting new application of CO2 “clumped isotopes”. Clumped isotopes refer to the isotopologues of CO2 which are multiply substituted, for example C13O18O16. Multiply substituted isotopologues of CO2, and in particular the mass 47 isotopologue provide an additional constraint on traditional paleo-climate studies which improves precision on past ocean temperatures. The new application note shows that these low abundance mass 47 studies are possible with the IsoPrime IRMS with no compromise in the necessary precision. This makes the IsoPrime IRMS a valid low-cost solution to the analysis of CO2 “Clumped Isotopes”. See the APPLICATIONS section to download the applications note
